I have created a model with units in inches, now i want to convert it to mm without changing the values (ie 25in +25mm) How can this be acheived? I have searched over the options but i couldn't find it.
Mm Inch Conversion Chart
Ok so i modeled a part in sw2019 in inches but thought i was in mm Hi i am drawing for a company that manufactures in imperial and outsources in metric, hence it is ideal to have both represented in the drawings The dimensions reflect the mm sizes so when i change units, the dimensions change to the mm value and part is way too big

Is there a way to preserve the original dimension numbers in sw
I used to be able to do this in inventor by specifying to keep dimension numbers intact Anything like that in sw? I encountered a very strange issue today I have my units set to ips, but my sketches show meters on the dimensions, but when i double click to change a dim, it shows inches for the input (see screenshots)
I have found no way to correct it In more than 10 years of sw i've never seen anything like this I'm using sw2014 for this particular project, one odd thing was the templates i had on. I started using what is supposed to be a metric format in my company
The units were set to ips so i set those to mmgs
No problem there and i'll have our superuser work on the drawing format file But in this case i'd like to use dual dimensions of mm/inch, as i work in the u.s But our assemblies will be done in mexico But if i sect dual dimensions display in document properties, i get mm.
I am updating drawings for a customer and they want my units flipped from inch to mm as the primary units I can filter the dimensions and window them, but i need to change all of these dimensions to. I want dual dimensions to display units mm for millimeters for the secondary dimension, but not in for inches on the primary dimension So, i'm aware of the following
Using the system options to set the default part template to inches using the lower right drop down menu to switch to inches this is great if you're making your own parts
However, i often find myself opening parts from other people and they're in metric, and i have to manually switch to imperial (our machines on the shop floor are in inches, so that's why I'm trying to find a way to show all my dimensions in my drawing with a consistent unit format When i select show units of dimension in document properties i can get the units to show however my fractions show () instead of (in) Is there a way or workaround to have all my units, fraction or decimal, to show either () or (in)
I know i can type in the dimension text but i'd like to avoid. Does anyone have a macro which will change the units and interpret all length dimensions For example 1 inch would become 1 mm Often times users create a model in the default units (inches for example)
They make pretty good progress before they realize they are using the wrong units
Creo actually has this built in (see attachment) and i'm a bit surprised solidworks doesn't
